Tribler Usage Statistics based on Dispersy (ALPHA)
This page was last updated at Fri Oct 24 05:16:38 CEST 2014 .
The statistics are based on data gathered from 2012-05-20 to 2014-10-23 .
Tribler daily usage
A total of 513,485 people have at one time used Tribler 5.9.9 or higher. A total of 18,846 people have used it in the last month, while 5,537 people have used it in the last week.

These numbers are calculated using the Tribler overlay network based on Dispersy. Using this network all Tribler clients are indirectly connected to each other allowing them to distribute information such as: available content, performance metrics, and other peers. Since each Tribler client identifies itself using a identifier, we simply count the number of identifiers that our bootstrap servers have seen.

Usually, the statistics are run daily but not necessarily so.

Tribler daily distribution.
The statistics that we collect give us insight in the times when users are most active. The figure above shows how many people were online in every hour of the day. The graphs follows the expected pattern, i.e. most people are active during the evening.

We have modified our mesurements based on the timezone that each person is in. This allows us to compensate for the global nature of our peer to peer network.

Daily usage, separated by version
A total of 1,116,418 people have at one time used Tribler. A total of 0 people have used Tribler in the last month, while 0 people have used it in the last week.

These numbers are calculated using the Tribler overlay network. Using this network all Tribler clients are indirectly connected to each other allowing them to distribute information such as: available content, performance metrics, and other peers. Since each Tribler client identifies itself using a identifier, we simply count the number of identifiers that we, indirectly, see.

The numbers include all peers which connected directly to a superpeer and those which other peers gossiped on (but did not directly connected to one).

In the graph, all peers which did not connect to a superpeer directly are shown as Other(random, tastebuddy). Keep in mind that the version of Tribler which is shown here is the minimum of the version of the connecting peer and the superpeer. Thus if the superpeers are not updated then a lower version could be shown here. This explains the popularity of the previous version of Tribler, which is caused by superpeers which have not been updated.

0 new people have been discovered in the last run. Usually, the statistics are run daily but not necessarily so.

  Distribution of users
The lifetime usage behaviour of users is shown to the right. Each point in the graph shows how many users (on the horizontal-axis) were active for a certain amount of time (on the vertical-axis.)

For example: if 10.000 people were online for 6 months, then the 'Active all time' line would intersect the point at 10.000 on the x-axis and 6 month on the vertical-axis.

Contrary to the 'Active all time', the 'Active one week' shows the lifetime usage behaviour of users that were online at least once during the last week.

Furthermore, the verified indicates that it is a peer that our bootstrap servers have verified to be real.
